Ponchos

FOX Armor anti-thermal ponchos have been sewn in our own workshop in Mykolaiv, Ukraine, since 2014, from a multi-layer fabric of our own with no foil in it. A poncho covers a person: on the move, on watch, or working next to a vehicle. Every model is cut 150 × 280 cm, comes with a carry pouch and has the 2-year legal guarantee.

This is concealment, not an invisibility cloak. A poncho lowers the thermal contrast between you and the background and blurs your outline. How much depends on the air temperature, how long you are watched, the sensor and the way you wear it.

How the fabric is built

• Shell: polyester oxford with a printed camo pattern and a water-repellent finish.
• Metallised barrier: a bonded aluminised film, not foil. It reflects body heat back inwards, so the outer face stays closer to the temperature around you.
• Insulating spacer (three- and four-layer models): 3 mm needled non-woven. It slows the warming of the shell and buys you time.
• Matte inner face (four-layer models): brushed polyester with no glare, quiet against kit.

A poncho has two, three or four layers. The more layers, the longer it holds heat in and the more it weighs: from 1.15 kg for the Multi 1 to 1.5 kg for the H-2507 and the PREDATOR Class C. Each product page gives the number of layers and the weight.

Which poncho

• Two layers, Multi 1: the lightest; it can live in a daypack until you need it.
• Three layers, Multi 3, Oliv B87, Pixel 1 and Wood L54: for moving between positions and for observation, in different patterns.
• Four layers, FX-2 and H-2507: for longer work in one place.
• Four layers with a UV and EM layer, Zero Class A, FX13 Class D and PREDATOR Class C: rated for up to two hours of continuous use (Zero, FX13) and up to three (PREDATOR).

All ten are one size, 150 × 280 cm: they cover the legs down to 140 cm and leave your hands free. Tarps for positions and vehicles, thermal blankets for kit, and PREDATOR arm and leg covers for the limbs that show from under a poncho are in their own categories.

How to use it

Leave a layer of air between the poncho and your body: fabric pulled tight warms through and shows up on its own. After a warm room, let the poncho cool to the outside temperature. Break up your outline: a device with a night channel sees shapes, and straight lines and rectangles give you away even without heat. Do not cover an open flame, do not cut new holes, and do not lay the fabric on hot surfaces.

Care

Hand wash in cold water only: machine washing and tumble drying destroy the metallised layer. No acids, alkalis or solvents. Dry in the air and store dry in the carry pouch.

Several models have a wholesale price from 10 pieces of one poncho, with colours mixed; the product page shows it. For a larger order, or a size cut for a vehicle or a task, send the dimensions through the Request a quote form and the workshop will price it.

Delivery and payment

Parcels ship from Ukraine with Ukrposhta or Nova Post Global. Import VAT, the customs levy and the broker fee are already in the price, so there is nothing to pay on delivery. Goods made in Ukraine enter the EU at 0% duty under the EU–Ukraine agreement, and an origin declaration goes with every invoice. The product page shows the delivery estimate and price for your country; standard delivery is free over €250. Pay by card at checkout, or by bank transfer on invoice if you are buying for a foundation or an organisation. You can withdraw within 14 days without giving a reason: if a poncho simply did not suit, you pay the return postage; if it is faulty, we pay both ways.
